Current Lab Members
Erich W. Damm, Ph.D. Principal Investigator
Dr. Damm completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Developmental Biology at the University of Toronto (2007). He then went on to earn his Ph.D. in Cell and Systems Biology under the mentorship of Professor Rudolf Winklbauer, Ph.D. at the University of Toronto (2013) where he studied the molecular regulation of directional cell migration in the developing embryo of the African clawed frog, Xenopus laevis . He completed post-doctoral studies under the mentorship of Dr. Wilson Clements, Ph.D. in the Department of Hematology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, where he studied the molecular and genetic regulation of hematopoietic (blood) stem cell cell development using the zebrafish embryo as a pre-clinical model system. Dr. Damm joined the faculty of the Department of Biology at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019.
